Event Overview

Santa to the Sea is a non-profit event borne out of a desire to give back to the com­mu­nity. What started in 2003 as a toy drive to cel­e­brate the relo­ca­tion of the world’s largest Santa Claus from Car­pen­te­ria to Oxnard has now grown into a robust run­ning event, toy drive, and com­mu­nity fundraiser.

Now enter­ing its 6th year, Santa to the Sea includes a sanc­tioned half marathon and a 2-person half marathon relay, plus 5K and 1K Kids fun runs.

Com­mu­nity Impact

The Santa to the Sea Schol­ar­ship Fund part­ners with the Oxnard Col­lege Foun­da­tion to award $500 schol­ar­ships to local high school stu­dents and adults con­tin­u­ing their edu­ca­tion at Oxnard Col­lege. Funded by allo­cat­ing $5 of every race entry to the pro­gram, Santa to the Sea awarded more than 50 schol­ar­ships in 2012. The Santa to the Sea Toy Drive col­lects more than 2,000 items for needy chil­dren in the area, with dis­tri­b­u­tion at Santa Claus Park on the Sat­ur­day before Christ­mas. Addi­tional fundrais­ing flows from the event’s Char­ity Chal­lenge, where run­ners raise money for local char­i­ties of their choice.

Race Infor­ma­tion

Half Marathon and 2 Per­son Half Marathon Relay

(8:00am start with a 4 hr. limit for both races)

–Both races start at the iconic Santa Claus statue off the 101 free­way in Oxnard and end at the Marine Empo­rium Land­ing in Chan­nel Islands Harbor.

• 5K Fun Run (8:00am start)

1K Kids Fun Run (8:45am start)

• Both of these races start and end at the Marine Empo­rium Landing.

Here is where it all comes together for thou­sands of race par­tic­i­pants, spec­ta­tors and sup­port­ers. Crowds con­gre­gate early to visit ven­dors and get in posi­tion to cheer the run­ners in, begin­ning with the 5K and 1K fin­ish­ers, fol­lowed by the half marathon­ers from around 9:30am thru noon.

Spon­sors can count on reach­ing and influ­enc­ing up to 7,000 peo­ple on race day, includ­ing 2,800+ run­ners and another 3–5,000 spec­ta­tors and sup­port­ers. And run­ners are well known in mar­ket­ing cir­cles for their out­stand­ing demo­graphic profiles.

Monthly e-newsletters reach more than 5,700 race and event enthu­si­asts and more than 2,200 fol­low­ers keep informed daily on the Santa to the Sea Face­book page.
