Santa to the Sea Half Marathon & Relay Teams and Duties Outline

Great events have one thing in common - Great Volunteers.
This event is no different and we can really use your help to make this year’s event one of the best. As a volunteer you will receive the following as a token of our appreciation for all your hard work and dedication to this event.
Thanks in advance for volunteering! You are going to have a great time! If you are under 18 years old and want to volunteer please make sure you have a parent or guardian sign the Volunteer Consent Form.

Pre-Race Package Pick-Up
(15 volunteers needed)
Friday December 11th from 5 to 8 pm
Volunteers will help athletes with last minute registration, timing chip check in, goodie bag pick-up and answer any questions participants may have about the event. Info sheets will be given to each volunteer for easy reference.

Race Day Positions Needed

Sunday December 13th, 2009 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Vendor Expo Team: (10 needed) 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Volunteers will answer vendor questions regarding booth set up locations, help set up vendor canopy if needed, and answer general questions about the race day schedule. 

Traffic Control Team: (4 needed) 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
Volunteers will direct Vendor Only vehicles into designated parking area and keep non vendors out.

Finish Line and Timing Company Team: (15 needed)
9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Volunteers will assist timing company with race timing issues only, help athletes at the finish line with chip removal, direct athletes to recovery area, alert medical personnel if an athlete requires special attention, and place finisher’s medals on all Half Marathon finishers.

Aid Station Teams: (42 needed) 7:00 a.m. to Noon
We will have 7 teams of 6 volunteers at each aid station to hand out water and recovery drink.
Volunteers will set up the water table, hand out water, and clean up the area once the last runner has passed.

Race Course Team: (8 needed) 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.
Volunteers will set up directional signage / banners on race course prior to the race and drop off water station tables and supplies.

Clean Up Team: (10 needed) 12:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Volunteers will help clean up all the debris left by the athletes, pick up any event
Signage and clean up the parking lot area from expo.
 

Holiday Contest
It's Christmas time!! Show your
holiday spirit!! A small prize will
be given outto the runner with

the best holiday costume.
So grab your Santa outfit,
put on your elf costume and
run like Rudolph!!
